In an effort to explore more of Vero Beach, I wanted to set up a fun, vintage photoshoot. I thought of a whimsical, timeless, and elegant character that represented someone who I imagined would have lived in Vero decades ago. It just so happened that Julia was looking to get some portraits done. One idea lead to another, and this ended up being one of my favorite photoshoots I had done in a long time.
We knew we wanted to play to Vero's older roots. So much of the charm of this town is the heritage that it brings. Classic mid-century beach architecture is prevalent throughout, but we decided that Humiston Beach was the perfect place to capture the bit of history, whimsy, and touch of elegance that we were looking to impose onto the shoot.
I couldn't be happier with the way these photos turned out! I had discussed the inspiration of "The Notebook" meets "Casablanca" and Julia knew how to bring it all together. She even wore her mom's old wedding dress, making the shoot even more meaningful and special. That also excited the wedding photographer in me, as I am always looking for an excuse to take "bridal portraits."
The photos in front of the historic Ocean Grill gave an elegant and romantic feeling that I only could have hoped would turn out this amazing. Making our way to Humiston Park felt like the time was turning back in the photos. The sun was setting into a beautiful pink and violet hue, the palm trees gently swayed in the light breeze, and the photos coming out of the moment felt like they were taken 70 years prior. Julia absolutely rose to the occasion and her photos turned out amazing as a result.
